The life of a Nursing Student

Before i enterted this program, i took a pre-nursing course that was a breeze. Yes there were lots of assignments but nothing compared to what i am in now. I do not go out as much as i used to because i have homework, reading and studying to do. Each week i had atleast one paper due or assignment. Sometimes, i would meet with two different groups for assignments on the same day. I feel that i am always on the run and that i never spend time on myself. I am looking forward to my clincal in januray but am also very nervous. When i talk to second, third and fourth year students, it makes me wonder because they say classes like patho are extremely hard. I find thats as long as i stay on top of my assignments, i will succeed.

Nursing Shortage

The nursing shortage is going to have a major impact on us nursing students. I believe this because when we are in clincal, our nurses that we will be following will be super busy with many patients, and therefore unable to put all their attention on us students because they are running around trying to assess and take care of their patients. I think that when we are learing as nurses, we will be rushed because there isnt much time to spend explaining things properly because our nurses have to assist other patients. I hope that with the help of the governemnt and other nursing students that we can change the nursing shortage to benefit ourselves as nurses as well as patients.

Below is a link to a nursing shortage video that i found very interesting.

Why nursing is right for me

Nursing is the right career choice for me because i feel that it is my destiny and that nursing was chosen for me before i was even born. I feel this way because my mother, aunt and grandmother are all nurses. I truly love caring for people and helping them any way i can. I wanted a career that wouldnt just be a job, i wanted something that i could go to work everyday, experience something new, and know that when i leave work, i helped someone. I am looking very forward to my future in nursing and looking forward to the many thousands of people i will be helping. I am glad that i am continuing on the tradition of becoming a nurse in my family and i am happy that i am following in my families footsteps.
